Apparently, We do tend to be affected than
affecting others. In the past, there was a much-loved soap opera. A beautiful
girl in the soap opera liked sucking a lollipop. She looked very cool with her lollipop.
In the morning, when I went to school, I saw almost
all of my female friends sucked the lollipop while walking to school!
Once, I read a magazine interviewed a member of
a band. The musician said how the school changed completely when a new band
became famous. When Duran Duran appeared, everyone changed their haircuts. When
Guns N Roses appeared, all wore Axl Rose’s headbands!
The moral is people are more easily affected
than affecting.
Unfortunately, few people are aware of whether
they fit in with what they imitate. Sucking a lollipop does look cool for the
actress. But will it also make us look cool? Sometimes not. Good for one is not
necessarily good for us.
It would be more terrible if we imitate the
villain in the film. Still remember with James Holmes? Students who killed a
lot of people at Batman premiere?
Whether influenced by fictional character or a
real person, I think it is much better when we are affected by the characters
in the books we read. Can books affect us? Oh, of course. I have seen someone
who is so obsessed with President Sukarno, just by reading his biography .
Baby Halder, the Indian woman who suffered
injustice in the beginning of her life, becoming a good reader and writer after
she read a lot of books. She was very fond of Rabindranath Tagore. People around her talked about her when she
started to read books. But she did not care and let the book shaped her. "
Everytime I began to read, I found it a little difficult, but as I went on it
Became Easier." Baby Halder said.
Will books also establish a
person into a killer? Or will people learn to rob a bank from figures he read?
I think not. A good reader will always take a distance with ideas he or she
reads. A good reader will merge good
ideas into him/her and throw ideas that do not suit him/her automatically.
